PlanCheck

Prototype · not yet used by any client

PlanCheck pre-checks residential permit drawings against zoning rules before they go to the city. It reads the drawing package, compares extracted measurements with the by-law, and lists what complies, what doesn't and what a planner still needs to check, citing the by-law section and drawing page for each finding.

  • Built and tested on public City of Vaughan Committee of Adjustment packages
  • Every finding cites its by-law section and the page it came from
  • Anything it can't read is passed to a planner, not guessed
  • Generates a findings report and a draft deficiency letter for human review

PlanCheck is a self-built prototype in active development. It currently covers selected residential zoning provisions for one municipality and is not a City of Vaughan system. The rules decide, AI reads, and a planner makes the final call.

I'm an AI and cloud solutions engineer based in Mississauga. From 2018 to 2025 I built clinical software in a PHIPA-regulated healthcare practice, which is where I learned that in regulated work, access control, audit trails and careful data handling are the foundation, not an afterthought.
